Like any other prescription medicine, Zithromax can cause particular side effects. During the clinical studies side effects produced by Zithromax of a mild to moderate severity. The most common Zithromax side effects are:
- Diarrhea/loose stools
- Nausea
- Stomach pain

If you vomit within an hour after taking a dose of Zithromax contact your doctor as soon as possible.
IMPORTANT: Watch Out for Allergic Reactions
Before taking Zithromax tell your doctor if you are allergic to any antibiotic. Zithromax should not be taken by individuals with allergic reactions to Zithromax, its components or any other antibiotics.
Contact any healthcare provider immediately in case you have the following symptoms after taking Zithromax:
- Hives, troubled swallowing, swelling face or throat
- Wheezing or troubled breathing
Note that the symptoms can go away and come back after a period of time.
IMPORTANT: Watch for Severe Diarrhea
Light diarrhea is quite common when taking most antibiotics. But severe diarrhea that doesn't stop can be very serious and could require hospitalization. Contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible in case you have a permanent severe diarrhea, is watery, or has blood in it. |
